A CHRISTCHURCH pub has applied to retain changes made to its outdoor area.
The Sandpiper has submitted a planning application to BCP council to retain a pergola, outdoor seating areas, and new disabled parking spaces that they had added to the pub.
The first seating area is located to the north of the building, and has replaced previous play equipment at the pub. It consists of artificial grass, planters, loose chairs and tables with lighting on timber posts and a picket fence to the front.
To the south of the building, the existing pergola had been extended and upgraded with a polycarbonate roof and black timber cladding.
Two disabled car parking spaces had also been relocated closer to the front entrance of the pub.
A statement included in the planning report reads: “These are modest but nonetheless important improvements to the customer offer at the pub which will benefit the local community and economy.
"These works have significantly improved the outdoor seating experience for customers, which has become even more popular following the Covid restrictions.”
A decision is yet to be made on the application.
