VISITORS have been banned from a Bournemouth home following concerns over suspected drug-related activity involving people who do not live at the address.

Officers from Dorset Police have worked with BCP Council to secure a closure order for the property in Rochester Road, West Howe.

The local authority obtained formal permission for the three-month order at a Poole Magistrates’ Court hearing on August 4.

A BCP Council spokesperson said the closure order related to a BCP Homes property and it had been sought due to serious drug related anti-social behaviour.

“The occupant is able to remain in the property, but no other visitors are allowed apart from those listed on the order,” the spokesperson said.

“The anti-social behaviour team have been working in partnership with Dorset Police to secure the order to protect victims from serious nuisance and disorder.

“We will always use the tools and powers available to us and we hope by obtaining this order, it shows we will act on issues raised by residents to reduce anti-social behaviour in our communities.”

Dorset Police said anyone with concerns about suspected drug-related activity in their community should contact the force by calling 101, online at dorset.police.uk or by emailing 101@dorset.pnn.police.uk.

A Bournemouth Neighbourhood Policing Team spokesperson said: “This order follows reports of suspected drug-related activity at the address involving individuals who did not live there.

“We fully recognise the impact behaviour of this nature has on those living in the area and officers from the local neighbourhood team have been supporting our local authority partners to assist in securing this order.

“Officers have compiled evidence to put before the court in direct response to the concerns raised by residents and we hope that this order will now limit any impact on the local community in the future.

“These incidents also involved the suspected exploitation of a vulnerable individual living at the property, and we hope the order will also assist with our ongoing efforts to safeguard them.

“Dorset Police remains committed to taking positive action in response to concerns of this nature that are raised by residents.“
