A DORSET pub treating the community to a busy events calendar - The Angel Inn is Pub of the Week.
The Angel Inn is a country pub in Ferndown that continues to welcome guests for great food, drinks, and weekly entertainment.
It is Hall and Woodhouse owned, but managed by James Wyer, a man with vast experience in the hospitality industry.
James told the Daily Echo that it is a ‘plethora’ of things that makes The Angel Inn a special venue. He said: “For me, the team make it special, and walking in and just seeing such an incredible internal culture.
“The pub garden's incredible, and our clientele are really nice, but the team are always going to be my number as one, as I couldn’t do anything without them.”
In 2001, The Angel Inn purchased a thatched cottage that was adjoined to the building, seeing the pub transformed into a larger and more visually pleasing space for customers.
The Angel Inn has undergone further refurbishment in recent years to turn it into the cosy space it is today, with visitors regularly complementing the roaring log fires and oak beams.

James said: “It brought it up to the Hall and Woodhouse standard. It modernised it and put it in line with the other pubs.
“We still have the thatch on the roof- it's 350 years old.”
Visitors to The Angel Inn can choose from an extensive Hall and Woodhouse food menu, with the steak and tanglefoot pie being a particularly popular dish.
They can also get involved in a number of themed community nights throughout the week.
James said: “The good thing with the Angel is that there's a real strong community presence.
“We have live music every Friday, and we have a quiz every Monday. Those are our two set events.

“Then we had Fete on the Field which is what the local rotary club put on- we provided the refreshments. It’s about getting out and getting in touch with the community.”
The pub also recently hosted their annual beer festival, with the public invited for a day of food, drink, live music and kids’ entertainment.
James said: “We just hosted our beer festival in July. It’s an annual thing, and it has grown to a full day event."
The Angel Inn is located at 188 Ringwood Road, Wimborne Minster, Ferndown.
