A MAN has been charged and will appear in court today for his alleged involvement in an organised crime group’s reported selling of cocaine in Bournemouth.
Officers from the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Neighbourhood Enforcement Team (NET) stopped a vehicle in Rushton Crescent at around 8.50pm on Monday August 8 as part of the Op Viper initiative.
The occupant of the vehicle was alleged to be part of an Albanian organised crime group selling cocaine in the area.
A search reportedly uncovered nearly 50 bags of what was believed to be cocaine, with an estimated potential street value of more than £4,000.
A man was arrested, then charged and is due to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday August 10 for an offence of possessing a class A drug with intent to supply.
Police Constable John Upsher, of the NET, said: “Through Op Viper we are working proactively to tackle suspected gangs involved in the supply of class A drugs in our area as we recognise the impact this has on our communities.
“We will take robust action to disrupt their activities and prosecute those believed to be involved, as well as striving to protect vulnerable people who may be exploited by these gangs.
“I would continue to urge anyone with information regarding suspected drug related activity in their area to report it to us at www.dorst.police.uk/contact, via email 101@dorset.pnn.police.uk or by calling 101. If a crime is in progress, always dial 999.”
