An amber alert was in force across Dorset for the “extreme heat”, and rail services told passengers to travel only if absolutely necessary.
Despite the warnings issued, Bournemouth beach and the seafront car parks were as busy as ever.
According to BCP Council's Beach Check app, the following beaches were listed as congested:
- Sandbanks
- Shore Road
- Canford Cliffs
- Middle Chine
- Durley Chine
- Bournemouth Beach West
- Bournemouth Beach East
Beach-goers were warned to avoid Branksome Chine, Branksome Dene Chine and Alum Chine.
Today is the final day of the heatwave but temperatures are still set to reach a sweltering 30C.
