Three people were rescued after rain turned cliffs in Purbeck into a mud bath on Wednesday.
Kimmeridge Coastguard team and Lulworth Coastguard were sent to Stair Hole at Lulworth around 2.58pm after reports of people trapped on shoreline.
A spokesperson said: "Paged along with Lulworth Coastguard Rescue Team to persons trapped on the shoreline at Stair Hole, Lulworth after a sudden deluge of torrential rain turned the clay cliffs and slopes into a mud bath preventing them to exit.

"Both teams worked together successfully recovering the three people up the cliff after deploying a rope rescue setup and lowering down a rope rescue technician."
A spokesperson for Lulworth Coastguard said: "We were tasked to recover three people from Stair Hole at Lulworth yesterday afternoon after torrential rain had made exiting the beach area almost impossible.
"Conditions on scene were really tough with saturated clay clogging equipment & making access hazardous. All three were recovered safely & given post incident care."
