GIVEN the thousands of illegal parking incidents on sunny weekends in the conurbation, surely it is time to install ANPR cameras in the problem areas so car owners can be fined for illegal parking?
A handful of traffic wardens are nowhere near as cost-effective.
Also, why not install warnings on the approach roads to tell people that if they cannot park legally, they risk being clamped or towed away?
Simple deterrents might not prevent all illegal parking but it would certainly make an impact.
