A BOURNEMOUTH resident has launched a petition calling on council leader Drew Mellor to resign.
Resident Ian Lawrence started the petition to illustrate how many people have no confidence in the BCP Council leadership.
He cites a number of reasons for this including: ‘Council wrongdoings, lack of openness and transparency, wasteful spending and going against voters wishes'.
He said:"The council's iconic city skyline priority is spending money we cannot afford or want and threatens conflicts of interest for some directors.
“Spend our money wisely on the needy - like the failing children's services - not iconic ego schemes.
“Every week brings yet another scandal making BCP Council a national laughing stock because of its lack of transparency or accountability.
“We council tax payers have lost all confidence in BCP senior leadership and we call on them to resign now.”
The controversial BCP Council plan to sell its beach hut stock collapsed recently following an intervention by a senior Government minister.

Levelling-up secretary Greg Clark MP stepped in to call a halt to the local authority’s intention to create a majority or wholly owned company which would have bought thousands of huts to fund transformation.
And this week we reported that Mr Clark sent councils a scathing letter about ‘novel and risky’ financial strategies just weeks after intervening in the plan.
