A spokesperson for the Great Dorset Steam Fair said: “It is with regret that the GDSF Management Team has been informed by the owners Global Events & Attractions Ltd that due to electrical issues, the much-anticipated Rocket Ride that was set to have its UK premier at this year’s Great Dorset Steam Fair is not now attending.

"We at the Great Dorset Steam Fair are extremely disappointed that following confirmation by Global Events & Attractions Ltd that we could promote the ride’s attendance on social media and in the press/media, this has regrettably not come to fruition."

Organisers of the Great Dorset Steam Fair said despite the Rocket Ride not appearing, the event will still feature "one of the largest travelling funfairs in the UK".

The event at Tarrant Hinton near Blandford starts today and runs until bank holiday Monday, August 29.
