A PETITION launched by a Bournemouth resident calling on council leader Drew Mellor to resign, has surpassed 1,000 signatures.
Resident Ian Lawrence started the petition to illustrate how many people have no confidence in the BCP Council leadership.
He cites a number of reasons for this including "a lack of openness and transparency, wasteful spending and going against voters wishes".
He said: "Spend our money wisely on the needy - like the failing children's services - not iconic ego schemes.
“Every week brings yet another scandal making BCP Council a national laughing stock because of its lack of transparency or accountability.
“We council tax payers have lost all confidence in BCP senior leadership and we call on them to resign now.”
The petition has gathered more than 1,200 signatures to date.
This comes as the council is set to debate finances at a meeting next friday.
