IT’S A shame that improvements to the aviary in Bournemouth’s Lower Gardens is being delayed but I’m not sure merely painting it black will make that much difference to the quality of the life for our feathered friends or the viewing public.

The new aviary with its partitions seems to provide less flying space for some of its inhabitants and the grills let in less light.

It looks like a top security prison for birds.

Can anything else be done I wonder as the aviary has always been one of the key features of our lovely town centre gardens?
