WE’VE just said goodbye to one of the hottest summers on record with weeks of hot weather and very little rain.
But what does September have in store?
According to Bournemouth-based weather expert Dorset Sun, September will start unsettled but some “pleasant spells” are likely later in the month.
Giving his monthly forecast, Dorset Sun said overall temperatures would be around or just above average with wetter conditions than a typical September.
He said the first week of the month would see a period of unsettled weather due to an area of low pressure to the west of the UK, which would bring “plenty of showery conditions or even longer spells of rain”.
Then from September 8 to 15, it would be unsettled initially but high pressure may “reassert itself for a time later on” and that it would be a week of mixed weather.
Looking ahead to September 16 and 23, Dorset Sun said: “The general indication is that high pressure may become more dominant from the south during this period. This means there will be a reduced chance of rainfall and chance of some decent dry and warm weather.”
Dorset Sun said between September 24 and 30, there are no strong indications for the period and the “general consensus is that we will pretty average conditions. Most likely a mix between showery and warm sunny days.”
