A WOMAN has urged the police to take action after reporting motorcyclists mounting the curb and travelling down a pedestrianised street.
Motorcyclists have been seen travelling down the cobbled Market Street in Poole which houses open onto.
One resident, who asked not to be named, said: “Ever since the council closed the Old High Street, which I’m in favour of, the motorbikes must have had a meeting and said, ‘don’t worry you can hurtle down Market Street’.
“We open the door and there’s motorbikes coming at 30mph.

“I don’t know what the police can do but there’s been no action whatsoever. I don’t know if they can put signs up, from my limited knowledge there needs to be a number of accidents before a camera can be put up.
“Police said at the time they would increase patrols in the area, a couple signs went up for neighbourhood watch but we didn’t see any patrols.
“I actually accosted two motorbikes down, one ignored me and the other got a bit scared and turned around.
“There’s a dropped curb there, I assume so wheelchairs can access but the motorbikes use that and don’t slow down.”

The resident said she had sent around 30 videos to Operation Snap and even had a police officer visit, albeit more than 12 months ago.
They continued: “My three step kids open that front door and step out onto the pavement and could be met with a motorbike doing 30mph.
“Most slow down, some don't and just use it the same as a road.
“I forward video evidence of this to the police every week. No one is doing anything now, I think we are all just waiting for one of my kids, a tourist, a pensioner to be knocked over and injured by a motorbike on the pavement.
“It's not once or twice - yesterday I clipped five videos in the afternoon alone.”

A Dorset Police spokesperson said: “We received a report on Monday, August 1, of motorbikes being ridden anti-socially in Market Street in Poole.
“Officers from the local neighbourhood policing team are aware and will carry out patrols in the area, as well as liaise with local partner agencies, in a bid to prevent this occurring.
“We would encourage members of the public to submit footage of any driving offences they witnessed through our Operation Snap initiative.”
