AN old-fashioned sweet shop making its own fudge on the premises- Truly Scrumptious is Trader of the Week.
Truly Scrumptious is a retro sweetshop that was introduced to Poole High Street twenty years ago and has continued to boast an incredible range of sweets, chocolate and fudge.
Owner, Jeanette Walsh, took over the shop in 2012, and has just celebrated its ten-year anniversary.
She said: “We are unique. There’s not another sweet shop in Poole.
“It sounds cliché but when somebody’s been in once, they always come back.”
Customers to Truly Scrumptious aren’t ever short of choice, with display cabinets filled to the brim with fudge and chocolates, and jars packed with colourful candies lined along the wall.
Jeanette said: “Everyone loves an old-fashioned lemon sherbet or strawberry bon bon, but everything sells.
“Whilst the supermarkets are scaling down, we’re possibly scaling up, because people love the choice.”
The fudge selection is a particularly impressive sight; customers can chose between a number of flavours including banoffee, chocolate orange, eton mess, and rum and raisin, most of which are handmade on the premises.
Jeanette said: “I make the majority of the fudge in the shop. There are only four flavours we don’t make.
“The previous owners used to make fudge, so they taught me, and we’ve followed it on.”
With all the options available, Truly Scrumptious has found a way to let people have a bit of everything that they like.
Jeanette said: “Everyone loves the chocolate cabinet. You can select your chocolates into boxes and bags.
“We have glass jars of sweets that we weigh it out. You don’t have to have 100g, you can have what you like, and a mix.

“Especially with the economic climate at the moment, not a lot of people can afford it, so they can have £1’s worth or 50ps worth. We can help anybody and bespoke it to what they want.”
Truly Scrumptious also delivers, and during the pandemic, Jeanette took it upon herself to directly deliver goodies to some of her eldest customers.
