MONTHS of delays in CityFibre service in BCP has left residents "frustrated" as they continue to wait for the service to be activated.
Last year CityFibre started working on a network for the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole area, to help approximately 180,000 BCP Council properties get connected to the new network.
However a year later residents are still unable to use the service.
Resident Daniel Cunningham from Poole said: "I remember the work started around September last year outside my house and they were initially planning for the service to be online for around Christmas time.
"I'm frustrated because I'm currently overpaying on my Virgin bill because I didn't want to renew my contract if the service will be active soon but I've now been waiting for months. I have probably overpaid by around £250 by now.
"I live on Dale Valley Road which isn't in Canford Heath however CityFibre said my house will be connected to the Canford Heath exchange for CityFibre.
"It seems daft that they have spent months digging up all the roads in the area and causing so much disruption when they aren't actually going to switch the service on."
"When I check the website for updates I just says 'the service is coming soon' which it has said for the last eight months.
"Also, I can’t seem to find and addresses that are available to sign up to CityFibre in the area when I type in different postcodes.
"What I find weird is City Fibre put out a press release in February saying the service has been connected, but it hasn't.
"I’ve spoken to CityFibre recently and they still can’t tell me when they service will go live."
Kathryn Askew Smith, area manager for Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole at CityFibre, said: “Construction is now well underway on our full fibre rollout in Canford Heath, with the main civils works now nearing completion. As soon as this stage is reached, we will then test the network before making it ready for service, which we expect to happen well before the end of this year.
"At that point, residents will have the option to connect their home to full fibre via a growing number of internet service providers and reap the benefits of a future-proof network and a faster and more reliable service.”
