POOLE Park Railway is operating again today after it was suspended following a derailment.
The miniature railway in Poole Park was suspended on Saturday afternoon after debris was found on the track.
Following the incident, BCP Council said: “The train at Poole Park Railway derailed at around 2pm this afternoon after debris was found on the track.
“Nobody was hurt and the team are working hard to get the service going again.
“We'll let you know when it's up and running. Sorry for any inconvenience.”
Providing an update at around 11.10am on Sunday, BCP Council said: “Poole Park Railway is back up and running as normal today.”
The miniature railway has been running a trial service to passengers ahead of its official launch event at 10am on Saturday, September 17.
As previously reported, the railway was initially suspended in 2018 after a series of problems, including derailments and staff shortages.
In 2019, planning permission was granted for the demolition and replacement of its engine shed while the 640m track also needed to be re-laid.
This summer efforts to bring back the popular attraction were stalled after the council failed to secure a contingency engine as promised in December last year.
