CONTENDERS for Poole's coveted Top of the Shops title are been encouraged to come forward.
The Daily Echo-backed competition is bigger and better this year, with Poole retailers joined by shops in Parkstone, Ashley Cross, Canford Cliffs and Broadstone.
Awards up for grabs include the most innovative window display, best customer service individual, best customer service, and overall winner.
A town centre management spokesman said: "New to this year will be separate awards for independents and multiples.
"Judging will be done through mystery shop surveys by an independent market research company funded by the Borough of Poole."
Winners of the awards - sponsored by local businesses Sibbett Gregory and Breeze Volkswagen - will be announced at a gala dinner at the Quay Thistle Hotel on May 21.
Joint sponsors John Corderoy, managing director of Breeze Volswagen, and Jonathan Sibbett, director of Sibbett Gregory, said: "We are very proud to be supporting the awards again this year.
"It provides a fantastic platform to showcase what Poole has to offer with the awards highlighting and rewarding all aspects of the retail offer."
The town centre spokesman added: "The retail environment can be a tough place to work. By taking part in the Top of the Shop Awards you could increase your shop profile, boost staff morale and be part of promoting best practice in all aspects of retail offering in Poole.
