Richard Bannister, manager since February 2022, said: “Our motto is we show all sports. We show everything from the premiership, European basketball, NFL. We even have lacrosse on.
“If there is a sport on telly, we will show it”
The premises boasts 16 screens, including several televisions and projectors placed throughout the beer garden, an area described as having “the best” atmosphere on matchdays.
Customers can also enjoy a cold pint, or a bite from the pub’s food menu as they watch their favourite sports.
Richard said: “It’s classic pub food that’s quick and easy. We’ve also got a sports menu with things like wings and burgers.”

But The George Tapps isn’t just popular with sports fans, it’s also a hit with students, and so the pub has been busy preparing for their return this month.
Richard has helped to prepare a new and exciting entertainment programme for the students- and of course all other customers- which includes the new ‘burn the bill’ concept, launching on Monday, September 19.
He said: “If you order a meal between 10am and 10pm, you get a chance to draw a raffle ticket. If it’s a winning number of the day, you don’t have to pay your food bill.”
The pub will also be hosting free quiz nights on Thursdays and Sundays and bringing back karaoke nights on Friday.
Richard has also introduced themed nights across Friday and Saturday evenings, including cheesy pop party tunes played till 2am on the first Friday of every month, and top 100 charts played on the fourth Saturday of every month.
Richard said: “We’ve just re-vamped everything ready for the students.
“There’s a lot of exciting things coming.”
The George Tapps is found at 207-215 Old Christchurch Road in Bournemouth.
