THERE'S a certain amount you can forgive when someone is regarded as a legend in British performing arts and, love 'em or loathe 'em, Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders are most definitely legends.

So we can forgive the moments where quality control jumps out the window. This is particularly notable in the fat men' sketches which is the same dull joke stretched wafer-thin.

But for every wanting sketch there's a beauty just round the corner, like the duo's excellent film pastiches; the Alien ("you've got a little something on your face") and Misery rip-offs are absolute class.

For a collection that spans six series, the hit rate is impressive.
