SOUTH Western Railway has made "no decisions" to close any train station ticket offices in Dorset despite rumoured plans from the government.

According to rumoured plans by the government, every train ticket office in England may be closed. Passengers would be forced to purchase their tickets online as a result.

However, despite "discussions going on at a national level", South Western Railway told the Daily Echo there are no plans confirmed to close any of their ticket offices at Dorset train stations.

A spokesperson for South Western Railway said: "Whilst there are discussions going on at a national level about the future of the railways, no decisions have been taken about the closure of any ticket offices across our network."

Three train stations in Dorset have no ticket office. These unmanned sites are Moreton, Holton Heath and Upwey.
