A WOMAN was led to safety by firefighters after calling them for help while trapped in a burning house.
Firefighters were alerted to the blaze at around 2.12am yesterday in the house in Gladstone Road West, Boscombe, by quick-thinking police officers who spotted smoke coming from a window.
Two fire crews from Springbourne and Redhill Park attended the blaze within five minutes of receiving the call.
Firefighters at the scene then received a call from fire control that a woman was trapped inside a room in the smoke-logged property and a third fire engine was requested from Redhill Park fire station.
The woman was given fire survival guidance until crews located her in a rear room on the third floor and led her to safety.
Firefighters were due to return to the property yesterday to carry out further investigations.
A man who identified himself as the owner said that four people lived at the property. He added that the house had been badly damaged in the incident.
