HUGELY popular six-piece Gaelic band Dochas, whose lead singer Julie Fowlis has just won the BBC Radio 2 Folk Singer of the Year award, play the Allendale Centre in Wimborne on Sunday.
Fowlis boasts a beautiful haunting voice and also plays whistles and Highland pipes. Joining her on vocals as well as pipes, whistles and accordion is Carol-Anne Mackay.
The rest of the band consists of some of the finest musicians and singers in contemporary Celtic music including Jenna Reid, one of the leading contemporary fiddlers.
The fourth female member of Dochas is Kathleen Boyle, a superbly talented pianist and accordion player who many will have seen performing with Cherish the Ladies.
Joining Dochas on their current tour are bouzouki player Eamon Doorley from Irish supergroup Danu, and award-winning bodhran player Martin O'Neill.
