The atmosphere at Mr Kyps as the crowd sat around candle-lit tables surrounding the stage was chilled-out and mellow - perfect for enjoying some top-quality acoustic acts.
At just 16 years old, Zac Harris may have been nervous about opening for artists with a well established local reputation.
However, this did not show as he bravely began his set with two new songs, and immediately held the crowd entranced. In terms of his voice, comparisons with Jeff Buckley can be easily made, and his experimental song-writing is reminiscent of the weirder side of Damien Rice. It made for a captivating performance.
Exeter-based singer-songwriter Rebecca Worthley delivered an uplifting set, with acoustic pop songs which were wistful and playful, thoughtful and gentle.
Her beautifully calming voice relaxed the atmosphere even further, but this did not deter Derrin Nauendorf from injecting a bolt of energy to the proceedings. Australian Nauendorf mixes folk, blues and a certain amount of funk into his one-man acoustic set for a truly original sound.
Although influences such as John Butler and Bob Dylan can easily be identified, the varied tone and pace of his lyrics and playing means you never quite know what's going to come next.
