THEY'VE finally reached their Target!

Four years after outlining ambitious aims to regenerate Butchers Coppice camp, appeal organisers have celebrated a successful conclusion.

The official opening of brand new public play facilities at the Kinson site, namely ground level trampolines, an agility trail and an adventure playground, marked the last phase of Target 2007.

The Daily Echo-backed campaign has also seen the scout camp completely transformed, with a new dormitory, shower and toilet blocks and the complete refurbishment of the Dad Atkins Centre.

To celebrate the end of the £600,000 fundraising appeal, a host of dignitaries including the High Sheriff of Dorset, Adrian E B Scott, were invited for a tour.

Presentations were also made to Daily Echo editor Neal Butterworth and Kinson South councillor Ted Taylor for the support they have shown the cause over the past four years.

Development co-ordinator Talbot Massey said: "The play facilities are basically the last bit of Target 2007 and we're very happy with how they've turned out.

"When we started the appeal back in 2004, our aim was to make this an outdoor centre of excellence and people seem to agree that we have achieved that aim."

The adventure playground is designed around a mature oak tree with a tree house and features a wheelchair swing and two wheelchair accessible play towers.

The agility trail consists of 12 above ground challenges linked by stepping stone logs. All the facilities are open to the public but advance booking is advisable.
