REGGAE legend Eddy Grant is to play the Bournemouth in June as part of his first UK tour for 15 years.
The Electric Avenue hitmaker's three-date jaunt takes in the Opera House on June 30.
Born in Guyana but brought up in London, Grant's first brush with fame came in the 1960s as guitarist with The Equals, writing their one major hit Baby Come Back, as well as Police On My Back, later covered by The Clash on their sprawling Sandinista triple album.
Having set up Europe's first black-owned recording in 1972, he went on to score solo success with Living on the Frontline, I Don't Wanna Dance, Gimme Hope Jo'anna and Electric Avenue.
In the early '80s he moved to Barbados and built the Blue Wave studio complex - producing for Elvis Costello, Sting and Mick Jagger. Blue Wave was also the site of Happy Mondays' infamous crack-fuelled sessions for the Yes Please album.
Tickets are on sale from April 4.
