A PUB is saying 'cheers' to the Queen by creating its own unique tribute in the form of an ale.
The Springhead in Sutton Poyntz has rebranded its house IPA, formerly known as ‘The Springhead ale’ to ‘Elizabeth the Great’ 4 percent IPA.
A spokesman for the Springhead said: “We decided to do something to mark the passing of the late Queen but of course had to ask ourselves how do you do something and try to keep it tasteful.
"We are lucky enough to have a ‘house IPA’ which we branded The Springhead so we thought why not re-brand it for a short time to honour the great icon that was Queen Elizabeth II."
They say they have received really good feedback by customers who have been in and tasted the ale.The spokesman said: “It was never about increasing sales of the product, it was just our way of doing something to honour her that the customers could connect with.
“You can’t get more British than the pub, and she simply was ‘Britain,’ so we felt customers would see the nice side of coming in and ordering a pint, and to literally raise a glass to Elizabeth The Great.”
The IPA will return to its former name following the Queen’s funeral on Monday, September 19.
