A VINTAGE event in Wimborne will still be going ahead this weekend reflecting on the Queen’s 70 years on the throne.

Wimborne Model Town’s Vintage Day on Sunday, September 18, will go ahead with approval by the charity attraction’s trustees following the death of Her Majesty.

The event will host a special ‘Model Town in the 50s’ quiz and a reflective 1940s ‘Spirit of the Blitz Singalong’ by The Land Girls at 2pm.

There will also be a line-up of classic transport as planned, including motorbikes, cars, and military vehicles The Model Town will, however, be closed on Monday to mark the Queen’s funeral.

Greg Hoar from Wimborne Model Town said: “We will be in reflective mood on Sunday, looking back over the late Queen’s reign and our own 70-year history from 1952.

"Visitors in vintage attire are very welcome.”

Wimborne Model Town’s Vintage Day will begin at 10am on Sunday.
