ARCTIC Monkeys are set to appear at the Ageas Bowl as part of their biggest UK and Irish tour to date.
The English rock band, widely regarded as one of the first groups to come to public attention via the Internet, will perform at the home of Hampshire cricket on June 14 next year.
Arctic Monkeys are set to hit the road in late May in support of their seventh studio album, The Car, which is out next month.
Beginning at Bristol’s Ashton Gate Stadium on May 29, the tour will include concerts in Manchester, Middlesbrough, Norwich and Swansea, plus gigs in Glasgow and Dublin.
The Hives and The Mysterines will appear at the shows as “special guest” openers.
The current dates mean Arctic Monkeys will be free to appear at Glastonbury Festival on Friday, June 23 or Saturday, June 24. THe hugely-successful band is also rumoured to be planning a return to Worthy Down, Winchester.
Arctic Monkeys were formed in Sheffield by three friends, Alex Turner, Matt Helders and Andy Nicholson.
Their 2006 release, Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not, became the fastest-selling debut album in UK chart history and won Best British Album at the 2007 Brit Awards.
The band's second album, Favourite Worst Nightmare was also acclaimed by critics and won Best British Album at the 2008 BRIT Awards. They went on to release Humbug (2009) and Suck It and See (2011).
The band's wider international fame came with the success of their critically-acclaimed fifth album, AM, in 2013.
In the UK Arctic Monkeys became the first independent-label band to debut at number one with their first five albums.
Tickets for the 2023 tour are due to go on sale at 9am on Friday, September 30, with a fan pre-sale beginning at 9am the day before.
Those who pre-order The Car from the band's official webstore before 3pm on Wednesday, September 28 will be given access to the fan pre-sale.
