THIS stunning picture shows the moon rising off the Dorset coast last night.
The scene over the Isle of Wight was captured by Peter Hadfield of the Echo Camera Club.
October’s full moon is due to reach its peak tonight, Sunday, October 9.
The October full moon is known as the Hunter’s Moon.
It gets its name as it marked the time to go hunting in preparation for the time to go hunting in preparation for the winter.
According to the Almanac website, the earliest use of the term Hunter’s Moon is believed to date back to 1710.
October’s full moon is also referred to as the Sanguine or Blood Moon.
This weekend, stargazers are also being treated to the Draconid meteor shower which was due to reach its peak last night.
Last month's full moon was called the Harvest Moon.
The next full moon with occur will be the Beaver Moon on November 8.
The Dorset Camera Club has more than 5,600 members and is the chance for budding and amateur photographers to share their pictures of Dorset and the New Forest.
Members can also enter monthly competitions for the chance to win £50 in vouchers from Castle Cameras.
