THE number of patients with Covid in Dorset hospitals has increased by 75 per cent, according to latest figures.
Latest data released by Public Health Dorset shows there are 93 patients being treated as of October 5.
This is compared to 53 people in the previous update on September 20.
Public Health Dorset said: “The number of people in hospitals in Dorset with Covid-19 has increased to 93.
“However, many of these patients are likely to be in hospital primarily for another reason. “Deaths related to COVID-19 remain at a low level locally.”
The figures also showed 1.4 per cent of the population in the BCP Council area had recently tested positive for Covid with 1.3 per cent in the Dorset Council area.
In England, that figure was 1.6 per cent.
Last week, national figures showed the total number of Covid 19 infections in the UK had jumped 25 per cent to their highest level since mid-August though not all parts of the country are currently experiencing a rise.
