RESIDENTS have described the moment a "fierce" fire broke out in their street in Poole.
The fire service said it received "multiple" 999 calls about the incident which destroyed two sheds and damaged another with the exterior of several houses also damaged along with nearby fencing.
One resident of the home across from the fire described being "shocked" when she first noticed the "fierce" orange flames illuminating the road.
They said: "It was a huge fire, a lot of the neighbours were out on the road watching, you couldn't miss it.
"When I first spotted it out the window, I was shocked because it looked like a very fierce fire.
“There were multiple fire engines outside putting it out, but I think it had already caused damage to the houses next door to it."
Another resident said they were "scared" when they heard the fire engines and spotted the fire.
They said: "At the time it looked very bad, I was scared that there were people caught in it but luckily no one got hurt.
"It's worrying to see how quickly the fire went up, it is lucky the engines came quick, or it could have been a lot worse. "
A Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We received the first of multiple 999 calls about a fire in Churchfield Road, Poole at 7pm last night, four crews initially attended, three from Poole and one from Westbourne; however, Westbourne was released fairly quickly.
"The fire started in a large shed/workshop and spread to neighbouring gardens – this and another shed were destroyed, a third shed was damaged, and there was fire damage to the exteriors of several houses and adjacent fencing.
"Four breathing apparatus wearers used two hose reel jets to extinguish, and the stop was at 8.26pm, with the last crew leaving the scene about an hour later."
