POLICE have been checking for speeding motorists in a busy area of Ringwood.
Community support officers spent Thursday checking the speeds of vehicles travelling on Southampton Road.
The team looked at 287 vehicles in a one-hour period - 35 of which were travelling over the 30mph speed limit, with a top speed today of 40mph.
In a Facebook post, the officers praised the work of community speed watch volunteers, who joined them on the day.
They said: “The work our volunteers do, and the time they put in to running these Speed Watch sessions, is so important, and invaluable in tackling speeding as a local issue, as well as helping to gather data for long term solutions around speeding in Ringwood.”
Also this week, police in Ringwood visited a number of business who had been suffering with repeat anti-social behaviour from regular offenders to help them work towards a long-term solution.

They also invited the public to a live event which saw Inspector Darren Ord answer questions, and discuss crime in the town.
