Halloween is almost upon us and there’s loads going on for kids big and small.
It’s time to dig out those spooky costumes and take part in a number of events happening across the area.
Here’s a round-up of just some of what’s going on across BCP and Dorset.
1. Bournemouth’s Russell Cotes will have ‘Frightful Family Fun’ over half-term. Between 11am and 2pm from October 26 to 28, there will be “spooktacular Halloween fun, including crafts, garden trails and stories”. There’s no need to book, just turn up. Costs £3 per child.
2. Moors Valley Country Park and Forest has a Halloween trail running until October 31. Children are invited to join Wanda the Witch on her latest quest. Visitors can pick up their trail sheet at the Visitor Centre for £2.50 before embarking on a 1.5-mile trail.
3. A ‘Witches Brew Adventure Trail’ comes to Upton Country Park between Saturday, October 22 and Sunday, October 30, from 10am to 4pm. Families will need to search the grounds to find all the ingredients the witch needs to create her potion. Pick up your free trail sheet from the tea rooms.
4. Families will be able to explore Wimborne’s Museum of East Dorset by torchlight on Saturday, October 29, between 6pm and 7.30pm. Dress up and take your torch for a “spooky time in the galleries”. Suitable for ages 5 plus. Booking is advised. Costs £4 per person and children must be accompanied by an adult.
5. Careys Secret Garden in Wareham will host a spooky trail in the Secret Garden on October 31. Witches, wizards, pirates and fairies will be waiting to meet visitors behind ‘hidden doorways’. Visitors are invited to dress up and join in the fun between 4.30pm and 7.30pm. Suitable for people aged five to 12 years old. Costs £5 for children and entry is free for adults.
6. Durlston Country Park will be running Halloween children’s activity trail between October 18 and 31. Children are invited to follow the map around the park and find the missing pumpkins. Costs £3 per trail pack. Open 10am to 4pm.
