A MAJOR road leading into Southampton is closed following a serious crash.
The M271 is closed southbound between the M27 and junction one near Southampton.
According to National Highways, emergency services are on the scene.
Road users are advised to follow the solid triangle diversion symbol on road signs.
The diversion is as follows:
- From the M27 eastbound, leave at J3.
- At the roundabout, take the 1st exit and join the M271 northbound.
- Continue along the M271 to the next roundabout.
- At the roundabout, use the 3rd exit and join the A3057 (Horns Hill).
- Continue over the M27 and a roundabout beyond .
- Follow the A3057 to the next roundabout at Lords Hill.
- Using the third exit, join Brownhill Way and follow to the M271 J1 interchange.
- At the roundabout, use the 1st exit to rejoin the M271 southbound.
