AMAZON has revealed when they will start operating from their newly built Poole warehouse.
Signage for the online retail giant has been installed outside the new warehouse, in Sterte Avenue West, ahead of the launch date.
A spokesman for Amazon said the company will be operating from the premises around Thursday, October 27 - just in time for the busy Christmas period to start.
The spokesman added "things will get busy" in the coming days as lorries and vans will start making use of the new facilities.
The new building, said to be one of the largest buildings in Poole when complete, covers 10.70 acres with its warehouse and office space covering 10,331m2.
Amazon has built the new warehouse to replace the existing depot near Bournemouth Airport.
No jobs will be lost as a result of the move and Amazon also said the move will provide additional facilities to its relocating employees by offering increased parking, a spacious canteen and improved locker room facilities.
The land, positioned between the A350 and railway line at the end of Sterte Avenue West, was previously allocated in the Poole Local Plan for employment purposes.
BCP Council granted permission for the warehouse subject to a financial contribution from Amazon of £349,000 to be spent on one or more sites within the Poole Harbour catchment area to compensate for the loss of habitat on the land.
An Amazon spokesperson previously said: “We regularly review our network to ensure we are delivering for our customers and are relocating our Bournemouth delivery station to a new site in Poole.
“There will be no changes to the service we provide to our customers in this area and all employees will be relocated and continue with their roles at the new delivery station.”
