Canford Manor in Canford Magna was once owned by the Wimborne family until it was sold in 1923 to become Canford School.
The family also owned its outbuildings, Lady Wimborne Bridge, Branksome Dene, the lodge, and the stables.
On the old Wimborne family's Canford Estate are a number of distinctive buildings known as Lady Wimborne Cottages.
Lady Charlotte Guest built 111 cottages for estate workers from 1867 onwards, mostly semi-detached pairs with a few variations.
Her husband, Sir John Guest had bought the Canford Manor estate in 1846.
Their son, Ivor, became Lord Wimborne in 1880, and their daughter-in-law, Lady Cornelia Wimborne, continued their philanthropic efforts until 1904.
