FIVE local operatic and musical societies dressed in silly costumes and splashed about in the water to raise money for charity.
A crowd of around 500 watched the teams battle it out in a fun It’s A Knockout competition at Avon County Club, Ringwood on August 18, 1987.
The day began with a march from the old station yard to the country club with all the teams, beauty queens, clowns and Parkstone Sea Cadets band taking part.
AFC Bournemouth manager Harry Redknapp kept goal while men, women and children took penalty potshots at him.
The event was rounded off with an evening dance at the country club.
The overall competition was won by Ringwood Musical and Dramatic Society.
