CHERRIES are ditching a Kanye West track as the team’s walk-out song at Vitality Stadium, the Daily Echo understands.
Concerns had been raised about the club’s use of the American rapper’s song ‘Power’, which has been used for many seasons across two separate periods.
Several international companies, including Adidas, have ended their partnerships with West, who has legally changed his name to Ye, amid controversial remarks he made, including antisemitic comments on social media.
Cherries supporters have expressed concerns around continuing to play the track as the team come onto the pitch. It is understood a decision has been made to no longer use it, starting with Saturday’s Premier League fixture against Tottenham Hotspur.
The club’s first spell using the song coincided with the journey up through the Football League to the top flight.
After being ditched for a period, Cherries brought back the 2010 track for the second half of the 2019-20 season, when the five-season run in the Premier League came to an end.
