A West Dorset landmark turned pink for a good cause.

Passers-by on Friday night will have noticed Colmers Hill looking very different as it lit the night sky with a pink glow.

The Symondsbury Estate illuminated the beauty spot to raise awareness of breast cancer and support the Wear It Pink campaign by Breast Cancer Now.

This has become an annual event for the estate and one, it says, is close to its heart.

A spokesman for the estate said: "We want to help raise awareness of breast cancer, because we are a family-run business and people are at the heart of who we are.

"We have all been affected by breast cancer in some way, whether this is directly or through our friends and family.

"So, we feel it is important for us to continue to do our part and come together as a community to show we’re all in this fight against cancer together! We need to keep talking, sharing our heartfelt stories and raising awareness until a cure is found and no further lives are lost to this disease.

"This tradition of lighting Colmers Hill pink is so important, as Colmers Hill is such a prominent feature on the landscape and known to many locals. Also, this was the first charity we supported following the installation of our floodlights on the top of Colmers Hill some five years ago.

"We hope to continue this tradition for many years to come and develop and create new ways to support this incredible charity."
