A WOMAN was reportedly doused in petrol and assaulted by a man known to her in Bournemouth.
Dorset Police received a report that at around 1pm on Wednesday, October 19, a woman was assaulted by a man who was known to her in Capstone Road, Charminster.
It was further reported that the man had poured petrol over the woman.
Following enquiries by officers, a 36-year-old Bournemouth man was arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent.
He has been released on police bail as the investigation continues.
Officers investigating the reported assault in Bournemouth are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
Police Sergeant Marcus McCorkell, of Bournemouth Police, said: “Our enquiries into this incident are ongoing and I am appealing for anyone with information that might assist us to please come forward.
“From our investigation so far, we understand there were at least two people who walked past the scene of the incident around the relevant time. I would like to speak to these individuals as they may have important information to assist our enquiries.”
