IT IS ASTONISHING that as our prolific and entitled species continues to hijack all the Earth’s precious and vanishing resources that there is little or no discussion about the sandcastle policies and cretinous disrespect for Mother Nature still being put forward as a way to progress.
Eight billion of us now on our vulnerable home planet but no advice as to how we ensure fair allocation of resources, how we can all help avoid conflict, fend off collapse and keep alive the faltering natural world.
As poor nations call for compensation at the upcoming climate summit and documentaries urge our collective restraint somehow those in charge are bent on distractions and false solutions.
Our children will not just be desperately poor but water, food, energy and pollinators will be giving up on them too.
How is the national curriculum facing up to this?
Where is the overdue public information programme we deserve please?
How can we all become environmentally literate and help avert catastrophe?
