A MAN has been arrested after an ambulance was stolen in the early hours of the morning.
Police say a 34-year-old man from Aldershot in Hampshire was arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking and driving offences.
Dorset Police received a report of a theft of an ambulance in Grove Road in Bournemouth, by East Cliff, at 2am on Friday, October 28.
It is believed the ambulance was driven for half a mile in Bournemouth before police made an arrest.
The ambulance is also said to have collided with a parked vehicle, causing minor damage.
A man was detained six minutes later in Old Christchurch Road, in Bournemouth town centre.
It is also alleged the man assaulted another man outside Vodka Revolutions before officers arrived at the scene. He was further arrested on suspicion of assault.
A spokeswoman for Dorset Police said: "We received a report at 2am on Friday 28 October 2022 of the theft of an ambulance from Grove Road in Bournemouth.
"Officers attended and the ambulance was subsequently located in Old Christchurch Road. A 34-year-old man from Aldershot in Hampshire was arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking and driving offences.
"During the incident, the ambulance collided with a parked vehicle causing minor damage.
"It was also alleged that the man had assaulted a man outside Vodka Revolutions before officers arrived at the scene. He was further arrested on suspicion of assault.
"The arrested man has been released on police bail as the investigation continues. Enquiries are ongoing into the incident."
