FOOTAGE shows the shocking weather conditions that a lifeboat crew faced on Halloween.
Swanage RNLI lifeboat crews faced heavy rain and winds gusting over 70 knots as they were tasked to help a yacht in Shell Bay on the evening of Monday, October 31.
The passengers onboard had called for assistance after finding the yacht had been dragging its anchor in the gale force winds, before going aground on Stoney Island and listing heavily.
The Swanage lifeboat quickly arrived on scene and took the passengers safely ashore to Poole Lifeboat Station.
Crews had also dealt with a serious incident involving a yacht on the previous day. Shortly after 7pm, the Swanage lifeboat, Poole lifeboat and coastguard helicopter 'Rescue 175' were called to reports of a crewman discovered semi-conscious onboard.
The Swanage all-weather lifeboat (ALB) located the yacht and sent two casualty carers on board. They were joined by a crew member from a Poole lifeboat.
The 'Rescue 175' helicopter then arrived, sending a paramedic onboard.
The casualty was transferred from the yacht to the ALB and run directly to the chain ferry steps in Poole Harbour where an ambulance was waiting to take him to hospital.
