AN investigation has been launched after guests at a hotel in Bournemouth had their possessions including cash stolen.

Dorset Police confirmed that cash and other items were stolen from 15 people staying at the Trouville Hotel in Priory Road, Bournemouth on Friday October 14.

It is understood the spree of thefts occurred in the evening, while hotel guests were away from their rooms.

The thefts were reported to the police later that night, and officers attended on the following Monday to speak with the victims.

No arrests have been made following the incident.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “The crime was no longer in progress at the time of the report, initial details were obtained, and enquiries were commenced.

Officers attended the hotel on Monday 17 October 2022 to speak to the victims and obtain further information. A total of 15 victims were identified.”

Many of the victims were part of a group coach tour, that involved a three-night stay at the Trouville.

One guest, who was part of the tour, told the Daily Echo she had £90 cash stolen from her room. She had been having dinner in the hotel restaurant with the rest of the coach group when the incident occurred.

She said: “On the Friday night when we got to the hotel, the times for dinner were changed from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.

“While we were down there, all the rooms were entered, and had cash taken. It was taken from most of the rooms of the people that were there, including mine. I had £90 stolen, but other people had a lot more.

“The coach driver called the police when the incident happened. The police came on the Monday morning before we went home, and they interviewed everyone who had cash taken.”

The Daily Echo approached the Trouville Hotel for a comment.

A spokesperson for the hotel said: “This is a serious matter; we are most concerned about the allegations of theft and hope that for all concerned it can be resolved quickly.”

They added that it would “not be appropriate” for them to make any further comment whilst police investigations are underway.
