A serious crash has taken place on the A35 involving four vehicles.
Emergency services were called to collision, on the westbound carriageway near the Puddletown bypass, at 7.50am this morning.
Police, fire and ambulance services are currently at the scene.
The road is closed between Puddletown and Stinsford, which has resulted in lengthy tailbacks on the route.
Drivers are being urged to avoid the area and allow extra time for their journey.
A police spokesman said: "Officers are just arriving at scene at an serious RTC on the A35, Puddletown Bypass.
"Road closures are being put in place. Please find alternative routes."
A statement from travel monitoring service INRIX said:"A35 Westbound blocked, queueing traffic due to accident, 4 vehicles involved from A354 (Puddletown / Blandford turn off, Puddletown) to A352 (West Stafford turn off, Dorchester)."
