FIREWORK displays lit up the skies on Saturday night – despite the very wet weather.

The rain failed to dampen Bonfire Night with many displays going ahead as planned across Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole and beyond.

BCP Council posted on social media on Saturday evening, that Poole’s free firework extravaganza would still happen at 8pm.

Cenk Albayrak-Touyé was among those who enjoyed the display at Poole Quay and shared pictures with the Daily Echo.

He said: “Photographing fireworks is challenging at the best of times, least of all when having to battle the wind and rain. In the end, I managed to capture a few photos I'm happy with.”
