A TASTE of Verbier has come to Bournemouth as a café in the town centre has undergone a festive revamp in time for Christmas.
Picnic in the Park, in the Lower Gardens opposite Westover Road, has recently undergone its annual festive transformation – with this year being bigger than ever.
The café, now called Picnic on the Piste, naturally follows a ski chalet theme and wouldn’t look out of place in the Alps.
Owner Adam Richardson, who took on the bar six years ago, said his café is bigger this year than what he has done in the past thanks to a new community stage.
“We have over 100 acts booked for the stage over the Christmas period and it’s all to raise money for those in need this Christmas,” Adam said.
“We've got live music showcases, amateur dramatic clubs, the cast of Godspell and lots more. Each week will spotlight a different charity.”
Picnic on the Piste has this year partnered with Zest and six local charities, including Bournemouth food banks and the HealthBus, to raise money.
There is also a photobooth, an illuminating glow trail in the trees featuring 25 LED lights, choirs, food and drink as well as seating areas.
“This is our fifth year doing Picnic on the Piste, but this year we have the community stage, our bar is bigger, we have the photobooth and the glowshow,” Adam added.
“We’re very family-focused and dog-friendly and we are open from 10am to 10pm.”
Adam also said planning for the Christmas café started in June.
