Police broke up what was left of a rave at a Dorset beauty spot on Sunday morning.
They were called after reports of noise and road blockages near Hardy's Monument in Dorchester.
Around 100 people were still at the site at midday, according to officers.
A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "Officers were attendance in the area of Hardy’s Monument following reports of a gathering involving around 100 people that has resulted in the road being blocked and noise disturbance.
"We responded to the concerns of residents and are taking proactive action to liaise with those present and ensure their departure from the site.
"Due to a significant number of vehicles involved, this may take some time and we appreciate the patience and understanding of members of the public during this period.
"Officers will take appropriate further action if required."
Residents reported loud music in the early hours of Sunday.
One said: "Sadly I was kept up from 2am til 5am from it being so loud. Not sure if they moved locations through the night but in the same area. I went out this morning at 9am through the woods and could hear the loud music still going."
