It’s been less than a year since their last visit but Fozzy returned to Bournemouth on Friday and treated the O2 to a set of thunderous rock songs that just about blew the roof off the venue.
With excellent support that went above and beyond to warm the venue up and set the tone for the rest of the evening this was always going to be a great night.
By the time Fozzy took to the stage the boisterous crowd were ready to bounce and sing along to nearly every song.
Chris Jericho is first and foremost an entertainer with his previous career as a pro wrestler providing some excellent training for fronting a rock band.
He is a larger-than-life frontman who revels in the interaction with the crowd and takes every opportunity to encourage it.
Marry that with a band who are all at the top of their game and you have a night that delivered on all of its promise.
It was pretty fast and furious from the opening note as the show started with Sane, One Crazed Anarchist and Nowhere To Run.
Do You Wanna Start a War followed on accompanied by liberal use of what looked like a power washer connected to a cylinder of CO2.
After on excellent cover of Relax and before a thundering version of I Still Burn he shared a story from his last gig in Bournemouth at the Old Fire Station where he had a pulmonary embolism on stage and ended the gig whilst struggling to breathing.
Thankfully he is obviously back fighting firing fit and firing on all cylinders as tonight’s energetic show demonstrated.
The main set lasted just over 60 minutes and closed with the brilliant Enemy, not the longest set but the power and passion of the delivery more than made up for the brevity.
The encore of Judas and AC/DC’s Dirty Deeds Done Cheap ended the night on a real high.
What a great way to spend a Friday night, listening to a proper band in a great venue.
'We love you Fozzy we do' rang out from the crowd and never has a truer word been said.
