A MAN has been jailed for several months for strangling a person in Bournemouth.
Andrew Peter Shaw, aged 49 and of no fixed abode, was alleged to have committed the assault at an address in Southbourne on October 14.
The defendant pleaded guilty to the single charge of intentional strangulation at a hearing last month.
He appeared in the dock at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Friday, November to be sentenced.
Magistrates committed Shaw to prison for 26 weeks, with the offence being deemed so serious due to it being a prolonged assault with threats involved.
The defendant was also ordered to pay a £154 surcharge.
